Resources

Primary Owners vs. Owners

Resources in Ploy can have multiple owners, but one must be designated as the primary owner. The primary owner is marked with a gold star icon and serves as the single point of contact when the system needs one specific owner.

When Primary Owners Are Used

Ploy uses the primary owner when a single owner is required for:

  • Automated flows — Approval requests, access reviews, and provisioning workflows route to the primary owner when a single decision-maker is needed

When All Owners Are Used

All owners (including the primary) have equal permissions to:

  • Approve or deny access requests for the resource and provision/deprovision access

  • Use the extraction

  • Receive notifications (if configured)

  • Participate in access reviews

Every resource must have exactly one primary owner. If you remove the primary owner, you'll need to designate a different owner as primary before saving.

Setting Primary Owners

To set or change a primary owner:

  1. Navigate to the resource and click Owners

  2. Click the star icon next to the owner you want to designate as primary

  3. Click Save

The gold star icon indicates the current primary owner in the owners list.

Choose a primary owner who is actively involved with the resource and responds quickly to access requests. This keeps your automated workflows running smoothly.
