Namely
Connect Namely to Ploy to bring your employee profiles into Ploy as an HR source of truth, see who has access to Namely and with which access role, and add or update employee profiles from Ploy workflows.
This integration is in beta
The Namely integration is in beta. It was built from Namely's API documentation and has not yet been proven against a live Namely company. It works the same way as any other integration, but you may find rough edges. If something looks wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
Before you start
You need:
A Namely account with administrator access. Ploy acts with the permissions of the person who creates the access token, so it must be an administrator to read every employee profile and to add and update profiles.
Your company's Namely address, for example acme.namely.com.
Step 1: Accept the beta terms
When you open the Namely setup in Ploy, the first step is a checkbox asking you to accept the beta terms. While the integration is in beta, Ploy records a redacted copy of any error Namely returns so we can fix problems quickly. Redacted means personal details such as names, email addresses and tokens are removed before anything is stored. Tick the box to continue.
Step 2: Create a Namely access token
Sign in to Namely as an administrator.
Create a personal access token for API access. If you cannot find where to do this in your Namely account, Namely's developer portal at developers.namely.com explains it, or ask your Namely account contact.
Give the token a name you will recognise, such as Ploy.
Copy the token. You will paste it into Ploy in the next step.
Step 3: Connect Namely in Ploy
In Ploy, go to Integrations and choose Namely.
Enter your Namely address, for example acme.namely.com. You can also enter just the first part, such as acme.
Paste the personal access token.
Select Test to check the connection, then save.
Ploy reads your employee profiles straight away and then every hour.
What Ploy reads
Employees: every employee profile, with name, work email, job title, department, employment type, manager, office location and start and departure dates.
Access to Namely: who can use Namely, with each person's access role.
Status: active employees have access. Pending profiles, which have been created but not yet activated, show as not yet active. Inactive profiles show as no longer having access.
Ploy does not read social security numbers, dates of birth, salary, benefits, home addresses or emergency contacts.
What Ploy can change
Add an employee profile with a first name, last name and email. If a profile with that email already exists and is active or pending, Ploy leaves it as it is.
Update an employee profile: first name, last name, email, job title or employment type.
Namely's API cannot deactivate or delete a profile or change an access role, so do those in Namely.
Troubleshooting
Namely rejected that access token: the token was not copied in full or has been revoked. Create a new one and paste it again.
That access token cannot read employee profiles: the token belongs to someone who is not a Namely administrator. Create the token while signed in as an administrator.
Namely could not find that company: check the address matches the one you sign in at, for example acme.namely.com.
