Notion
Connecting Notion to Ploy gives you an always-up-to-date view of who has access to your Notion workspace. Ploy uses Notion's official API to read your workspace's member list, so you can include Notion in access reviews, joiner/leaver checks, and your app inventory without maintaining spreadsheets.
The connection uses OAuth — you sign in and approve access with a couple of clicks. There are no API keys to create or rotate.
What Ploy syncs from Notion
Workspace members — each human member of your Notion workspace, including their name and email address. Bot and integration users are excluded.
Notion access — every synced member is recorded as having member access to Notion, so their Notion access shows up alongside their other apps in Ploy.
The Notion app itself — Notion is added to your app inventory as a sanctioned app, with your workspace's members attached to it.
Ploy re-scans Notion regularly, so new members and removed members are reflected automatically.
This integration is read-only: Ploy never creates, changes, or removes anything in your Notion workspace.
Prerequisites
A Ploy account with permission to manage integrations.
A Notion account in the workspace you want to connect, with permission to add connections (integrations) to that workspace. If your workspace restricts who can install connections, ask a workspace owner to complete the connection.
Connect Notion to Ploy
In Ploy, go to the Integrations page and find Notion.
Click Add to open the setup wizard.
Under Connect your Notion workspace, click Connect to Notion. As the wizard says: click the button to grant Ploy access to your Notion workspace.
You'll be taken to Notion to approve the connection. If you belong to more than one Notion workspace, make sure the correct workspace is selected before approving — the workspace you pick is the one Ploy will sync.
Approve the access request. You'll be returned to Ploy, and the wizard will show Notion is connected.
Click Test to confirm Ploy can reach your workspace, then complete the wizard.
Once connected, the integration is named after your Notion workspace, and the first scan starts automatically.
Reconnecting Notion
If the connection stops working — for example, because access was revoked from within Notion, or the authorizing user left the workspace — open the Notion integration in Ploy and click Reconnect Notion. This runs the same approval flow again and refreshes Ploy's access without losing any of your existing data.
Troubleshooting
"Please complete OAuth authorization" — you tried to finish the wizard before connecting. Click Connect to Notion and approve access first, then continue.
"Notion authentication failed. Please try again." — the connection test couldn't authenticate. Click Reconnect Notion to run the approval flow again, then re-test.
"Failed to authenticate with Notion" — Notion rejected Ploy's stored access. This usually means the connection was removed on the Notion side. Reconnect the workspace to restore access.
"Connected to Notion but received an unexpected response. Please contact ploy support for assistance" — Ploy reached Notion but got a response it didn't recognise. Our team is alerted automatically when this happens, but do reach out to support so we can resolve it for you.
Scans failing with "token may be invalid or expired" or "insufficient permissions" — Ploy's access to the workspace is no longer valid. Reconnect Notion from the integration page; if it keeps happening, check that the connection hasn't been restricted or removed inside your Notion workspace settings.
A member is missing from the sync — Ploy syncs human workspace members only. Bots and integration users are excluded by design, and a person will only appear once Notion reports them as a member of the connected workspace with an email address.
