Set up the Gong integration
Use this guide to connect Gong to Ploy with a Gong API key.
This integration is in beta
The Gong integration is in beta. Reading users, permission profiles and user activity, and creating and updating permission profiles, were built from Gong's published API and have not yet been run against a live Gong account. If anything looks wrong after you connect, let the Ploy team know.
What Ploy does with Gong
Lists your Gong users and whether each one is active.
Lists the permission profiles in each Gong workspace and which users each profile is assigned to, on Gong plans that include permission profiles.
Reads Gong's user activity log to show when each user was last active.
Creates and updates permission profiles from Ploy workflows, using the Create Resource in Integration and Update Resource in Integration actions.
Gong's API cannot create, deactivate or delete users, and cannot assign a permission profile to a user. Do those in Gong's admin settings or through your identity provider.
Before you start
You must be a Gong technical administrator to create an API key.
Create an API key in Gong
Sign in to Gong.
Open the Admin Center.
Under Ecosystem, select API.
Click Get API Key and give the key a name.
If you restrict the key to trusted IP addresses, include the addresses Ploy connects from, or Gong will refuse every request.
Copy your credentials
After Gong creates the key, copy these values and keep them somewhere secure:
Access Key
Access Key Secret (Gong shows it only once)
API Base URL, for example
https://us-12345.api.gong.io
Add the credentials to Ploy
In Ploy, open the Gong integration setup.
Enter the API Base URL, Access Key and Access Key Secret from Gong.
Save and test the connection.
If you closed the Gong API key screen before copying the secret, create a new key.
Creating a permission profile from a workflow
When a workflow creates a Gong permission profile, the profile is created in a Gong workspace. If your company has one workspace, Ploy uses it. If it has several, enter the workspace ID in the action's provider settings; the error message lists your workspaces and their IDs. New profiles get no call library access unless you choose otherwise, and everything else uses Gong's defaults.
