Lever
Connect Lever to Ploy to see every user in your Lever account, whether they are active or deactivated, and the access role each one holds. Ploy can also add users, deactivate and reactivate them, and change their access role.
Ploy connects through the Lever API with an API key that you create in Lever.
This integration is in beta
The Lever integration is in beta. It was built from Lever's API documentation and has not yet been checked against a live Lever account, so some details may need adjusting once customers connect it. Beta does not limit what the integration can do.
The first step of setup is a consent checkbox. Ticking it lets Ploy capture redacted error data when a request to Lever fails: the error response Lever sends back, with personal details, keys and other secrets removed. Ploy uses it only to fix problems with this integration. You must tick the box to continue.
What Ploy reads
Every Lever user, including deactivated users, with their name, email address and username
Whether each user is active or deactivated, and when they were deactivated
Each user's access role: Super admin, Admin, Team member, Limited team member or Interviewer
Ploy does not read candidates, opportunities, feedback, offers, postings or requisitions. Posting-level access is not scanned yet.
Before you start
You need a Lever super admin, who can create API keys.
Create an API key in Lever
Sign in to Lever as a super admin.
Go to Settings, then Integrations and API, then the API Credentials tab.
Generate a new API key.
Allow the key to read users, so Ploy can scan your users.
To let Ploy manage access, also allow the key to create and update users.
Copy the key. Treat it like a password.
Connect Lever in Ploy
In Ploy, open Integrations and choose Lever.
Tick the beta consent checkbox.
Paste the API key.
Click Test. Ploy reads your Lever users to check the key works.
Finish the setup. The first scan starts straight away.
Things to know
Deactivated users show as having lost access straight away.
Each user's access role shows as a label in Ploy. When someone's role changes in Lever, the old label is removed on the next scan.
Custom roles your account has defined all show as one Custom role label, because Lever's API gives a custom role's ID but not its name.
Lever has no way to delete a user. To remove someone's access from Ploy, deactivate them. Reactivating them restores their access with the role they had.
Users added from Ploy start with the access role the flow chooses, or Interviewer if it chooses none. Lever does not email them. If your account uses single sign-on they can sign in straight away; otherwise they set a password through Lever's own password reset.
Ploy can change a user's access role to any of Lever's five built-in roles. Custom roles are managed in Lever. Lever removes every candidate a user follows when they are moved to Interviewer.
Ploy will not change the role of a deactivated user. Reactivate them first.
Troubleshooting
Lever rejected that API key: check it was copied in full and has not been deleted in Lever.
That API key cannot read users: edit the key's permissions in Lever to allow reading users, then test again.
Lever refused the change: the key is not allowed to manage users. Edit its permissions in Lever, then try again.
Lever refused the change, with a reason: the message shows Lever's reason, for example an email address that is already in use.
