AppViewX
AppViewX is a beta integration. It has been built from AppViewX's published API documentation and has not yet run against a live AppViewX instance. The first step of setup asks you to agree that Ploy may capture technical error details from this connection (API responses with personal information removed) so we can find and fix problems quickly.
What Ploy reads and does
Every AppViewX user, with their email address, when they last signed in, and the AppViewX user groups they belong to. Each user group appears as an entitlement on their AppViewX access. (In AppViewX, permissions come from the roles attached to user groups.)
Ploy can create AppViewX users (with a temporary password, optionally placing them in a user group), remove users, and change which user groups a user belongs to.
Ploy cannot disable or re-enable AppViewX users, reset passwords, or read multi-factor or audit-log data. AppViewX's API does not offer these.
Before you start
You need an AppViewX administrator who can create a service account, and an AppViewX address Ploy can reach over the internet (AppViewX SaaS, or a self-hosted gateway exposed over https).
Step 1: Create a service account in AppViewX
In AppViewX, open Platform, then Identity, then Service Account (in older versions: Account, then Service Account).
Click + Add Account and name it, for example
ploy.On the account's User Group tab, add it to a user group whose role can view and manage users and user groups. Ploy only sees users that the service account can see, so avoid a delegated-admin group that covers part of your users.
Copy the Client ID and Client Secret. The secret is valid for 180 days by default; set a reminder to replace it in Ploy before it expires.
Step 2: Connect in Ploy
In Ploy, open Integrations, find AppViewX, and click Connect.
Tick the beta acknowledgement.
AppViewX address: the https address you sign in at. For SaaS this looks like
https://acme.appvx.com; for self-hosted, include the gateway port, for examplehttps://avx.acme.com:31443.Gateway key: leave blank unless your administrator gave you a tenant key (gwkey) for API calls.
Paste the client ID and client secret, then click Test connection. Ploy lists one user to confirm access.
Troubleshooting
"AppViewX rejected those service account credentials": check the client ID and secret were copied in full and the secret has not expired.
"AppViewX accepted the sign-in but refused to list users": the service account's user group needs a role that can view users.
"Enter your AppViewX address as an https URL": the address must start with https://.
