Linear

Connect Linear to Ploy to discover your workspace's members, teams, and roles — and let Ploy provision access for you: invite new users, suspend leavers, change workspace roles, and add or remove team members.

Overview

Ploy connects to Linear with a personal API key and keeps your workspace data in sync on every scan.

What Ploy syncs

  • Workspace members, including app (OAuth) accounts and last-seen activity

  • Teams and their memberships

  • Workspace roles (Owner, Admin, Member, Guest) and who holds each

Set up the integration

Before you begin: you'll need a Linear account with the Admin role. Admin access is required so Ploy can see all workspace members and manage access.

Create a personal API key

  1. Log in to Linear and open Settings

  2. Go to Security & access

  3. Under Personal API keys, click New API key

  4. Name the key (for example, "Ploy"). If Linear asks which permissions or teams to include, grant full access for your workspace

  5. Click Create and copy the key — it starts with lin_api_ and is shown only once

Connect Linear to Ploy

  1. In Ploy, navigate to Integrations

  2. Find and select Linear from the catalog

  3. Paste your Linear API Key

  4. Click Save, then Test Connection

Ploy will verify the connection and begin syncing your Linear workspace. Users, teams, and roles appear within a few minutes.

Troubleshooting

  • Linear rejected the API key — check the full key was copied (it starts with lin_api_) and that it has not been revoked under Security & access in Linear

  • Some members are missing — Linear's API hides suspended members; they reappear in Ploy if they are unsuspended

  • Teams or roles look out of date — Ploy reconciles team and role membership on every scan; trigger a scan from the integration page in Ploy to refresh immediately
